Finca La Escuela is located in Altamira, the premiere region for Malbec. It is named for the rural school (Escuela) located on the property. TintoNegro actively supports the school through regular donations and scholarships, furthering the education of our rural vineyard families. The vineyard has a patchwork of unique soil structures: sandy in some areas, stony patches of calcareous rocks, and light sandy, silt. Each soil profile lot within the vineyard is harvested at different dates, lending additional complexity to the final wine.TINTONEGRO, meaning “black wine” in Spanish, is meant to celebrate the essence ofMalbec in Mendoza. 2016 TINTONEGRO FINCA LA ESCUELA MALBEC
Always more complete and nuanced than the Malbecs from the individual soils, the 2016 Malbec Finca la Escuela has the complexity of some full clusters and some variations that aren’t introduced in the “soil” cuvées in order to keep them as simple as possible. It has the floral varietal character and the chalkiness of the Paraje Altamira limestone soils. It has very good freshness and very fine tannins, in a rare combination of power and elegance
