A wine that is still a little discreet on the nose, but once aerated, delivers aromas of ripe red fruits on a background of charred wood. The mouth reveals itself to be ample, rich and concentrated, and upheld by silky tannins. Best enjoyed after a few years of ageing in cellar.

A deep garnet colour with aromas of savoury, herbaceous red and black fruit with hints of tobacco and spice on the nose. Good cassis fruit intensity, well-managed tannins and a balanced, lean finish.

Critic James Suckling described it as "clean, crisp and flavourful", with a "pretty nose". Maturation in part new oak barrels for 20 months lends notes of vanilla to the freshness of the fruit. 91 points

A blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, split equally, with 2% each of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The vines are closely planted and are on average over 25 years old. Showing a classic Médoc character, the grapes for the wine are pressed in an old vertical press and after small, relatively low temperature batch fermentations, the wines are aged in French oak: 20% new. Ripe, complex fruit character with a fleshy palate and integrated oak spice.

Cissac is among the most celebrated addresses in the appellation of Haut-Médoc and delivers great sophistication at an everyday drinking level.

The 2017 release from this always reliable estate great character and structure. Black currants fruits and balanced tannins are sustained by acidity and a juicy, succulent aftertaste.
