Egidio Barbera d'Alba is made from 100% Barbera that is matured for 18 months in new French oak.

Producer Cantina Bosio is situated in the heart of the Langhe (Piedmont), in pretty hills mentioned in the works of famous Italian poet Cesare Pavese. Established in 1967 by Egidio and Angela, Bosio is today run by Valter Bosio, his wife Rosella and oenologist son Luca.

The Barbera d'Alba wine region actually overlaps with those of Piemonte's two most famous appellations Barolo and Barbaresco. Big and bold, better Barbera d'Albas might indeed sometimes be compared with these aristocratic reds. The Alba expression is generally beefier than sibling wine Barbera d'Asti, which tends to be perkier and fruitier. Barbera d'Alba must be at least 85% Barbera, and the balance can be made up of Barolo grape Nebbiolo.
