Aged 12 months in oak barrels, this wine becomes soft and by reducing the aging the fruity primary aromas take on greater prominence. The result of the reduced tannin infusion is a smoother, easier-to-drink Rioja wine. Although Rioja Santiago is fully suitable for long ageing, it is already in optimum conditions for consumption.Harvested from vines with an average age of 20 years and rooted in mainly clay-calcareous soils with good exposure. Tempranillo grape variety contributes to obtain this soft and fruity wine of ruby color.
Beautiful cherry red color with slight ruby brightness. On nose you can perceived memories of red fruits, chocolate and spices. On palate, it is well - balanced because of its silkiness and perfect acidity grade.
Food Pairings: Legumes, white and grilled meats, sheep cheese, pasta and fried foods.
History
Bodegas Rioja Santiago hosts and serves wine to millions of pilgrims as they pass through Rioja, on their final stage to Santiago de Compostela.
Founded in 1870 in Haro, on the banks of the River Tiron, Bodega Rioja Santiago is the fourth oldest winery in La Rioja. One of only five wineries permitted to use the word ‘Rioja’ on the label.
Nowadays Rioja Santiago is a modern winery, but the philosophy that surrounded the wines for more than 100 years has not changed: producing the highest quality Rioja wines.
